Fourth Year Final Assignment
The Saganist Lomography Packaging
Using nostalgia as my starting point, I created a Carl Sagan themed analogue concept camera and its packaging. The camera is accompanied by a book that details some of the amazing things I have learned from Carl Sagan’s Cosmos: A personal Voyage in a simplistic, minimalistic manner
The camera allows the user to get a glimpse of what the world might look like if he/she were to travel near the speed of light, according to Carl Sagan. Conventions of space and time would strangely change. If we were to see something traveling towards us near the speed of light, light waves would become compressed. These shorter light waves appear blue. If we were to see something traveling away from us near the speed of light, light waves are elongated and appear red. If we were to travel at near the speed of light, our vision would appear squeezed in a circular window - blue-shifted in the centre and redshifted at the edges. The entire world is both coming and going near the speed of light.
